The Episcopal Church of Australia commenced in January 2011 with just one community: Our Lady of Advent, Granville. At that time we used the designation Anglican Communities of Our Lady to denote our Anglican heritage and Catholic understanding of being Church. Fr Max-Augustine Eggert (died 2016) and Fr Thomas Peacock were the two founding clergy.
Since then we have established other pastoral care and worship communities: Our Lady of the Rocks (North Rocks; Our Lady of the Valley (Putty), Our Lady of the Mystical Rose (Rose Bay), Our Lady of Albion (Surry Hills), Our Lady of the Way (Baulkham Hills), Our Lady of Opal (Winston Hills), Our Lady of the Hills (Baulkham Hills)
Having started with only 2 clergy, since then we have been joined by Fr John Gumbley (who serves as Vicar General), Revd. Robin Hutcheon (Deacon), Jane Robinson (Lay Minister), Revd. Irene Stein (Deacon), Fr Gregory Horn and Fr Rob Suttie efo.
ECoA has over the years forged close connections with other independent Christian bodies, especially MCC Good Shepherd Western Sydney, Community of Christ Our Hope within the Antioch Church of Australia, the Ecumenical Catholic Church of Australia, as well as sharing hospitality and services attendance at St. Shenouda’s Coptic Monastery (Putty).
